Shiatsu Level I Certification Course

October 2016 – May 2017 150CE’s

Students will learn how to assess and evaluate patterns of disharmony within a five element theory and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) framework. Students will learn the placement of the meridians and how they can be accessed, protocols for each element and full Shiatsu sequence. Students will also learn how to modify and design treatments for the needs of each client and how to use various treatment strategies to regain balance and harmony in a client. Instructor: Deborah Overholt, AOBTA® Certified Instructor.

A certificate for Continuing Education and a Certificate for Shiatsu Level I will be issued upon completion of this entire course.

**PLEASE NOTE: You may also take Month 1 and any other monthly classes, if you do not wish to complete the entire Shiatsu Certification Course. In this case, you would be required to complete Month 1 (the Introduction) which would cost $350 + $85 for books. Each additional month you enroll in will cost an additional $350. In this situation, you will receive Continuing Education credits for the hours completed, but would not receive Shiatsu Level I Certification.

Month 2: November 3, 10 & 17: 6pm-10pm + November 20: 9:00am-5:00pm (20 Hours):

Six Fundamentals of Health – Whole Health Shiatsu – 4 hrs Discuss the Fundamentals Practice Shiatsu sequence learned to date
Spleen & Liver Meridians – 4 hrs
Learn and practice on Sp and Lv Meridians – Functions, etc.
Kidney Meridian – 4 hrs
Learn and practice on Ki Meridian – Functions, etc.
Yin/Yang Arm Meridians – 4 hrs.
Learn and practice Lung, Pericardium and Heart Meridians – Functions, etc.
Learn and practice Lg.Intestine, Sm.Intestine and Triple Warmer Meridians
Review and Practice Full Body Shiatsu Sequence,
including neck/shoulders, head/face, hands and feet – 4 hrs

Month 3: December 1, 8 & 15: 6pm-10pm + December 18: 9:00am-5:00pm (20 Hours):

Review Yin/Yang Meridians – Governing Vessel and Conception Vessel – 4 hrs
Learn GV and CV functions and points – practice sequence
This completes the 14 Major Meridians
Whole Health Fundamentals – Energetics of Food – 4 hrs
Review the Chinese Medicine’s view of the Energetics of Food and how it
Effects health and the energies of the body
Introduction to the Hara – 4 hrs.
Learn about the Hara (one’s center) – how to treat – incorporate into sequence
Five Element Theory and Correlations -8 hrs.
Discuss the Generating and Controlling Aspects of the Five Phases
Review the correlations associated with Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal& Water
Review the Chinese clock and relevance to assessment

Month 5: February 2, 9 & 16 : 6pm-10pm + February 19: 9:00am-5:00pm (20 Hours):

TCM Theory -Tonification/Sedation Points – 4hrs
Learn 5 Element treatment pts. – review kyo/jitsu
TCM Theory – Four Pillars (Examinations) – Visual Assessments -8 hrs
Review the Four Pillars for Assessment
Intro to Visual Assessments – Tongue and Face – skim eyes/ears
Incorporate into session
Constitution/Condition – Yin/Yang Correlation – 4 hrs
Acupressure Releases – 4 hrs

Month 6: March 2, 9 & 16: 6pm-10pm + March 19: 9:00am-5:00pm (20 Hours):

Emotional Releases – 4 hrs.
Learning how handle emotional releases during sessions
Q iGong Workshop – 8 hrs
Review TCM Theories Learned – 8 hrs.
4 Pillars, 6 EPIs, 8 Principles, Faces/Tongues, Emotions,
Tonification/sedation pts. – practice

Month 7: April 6, 13 & 20: 6pm-10pm + April 23: 9:00am-5:00pm (20 Hours):

Whole Health Remedies – Ginger Compresses – 4 hrs
Learn and experience ginger compress applications
One Day Clinic – 8 hrs
3 Clinic Clients – Assessment, Treatment, Review
Side Shiatsu – 4 hrs
Indications when to do Side Shiatsu – practice method
Review for Exam – 4 hrs

Month 8: May 4, 11: 6pm-10pm + May 18: 6pm-8pm (10 Hours):

Written exam and Practical exam

Payments

FULL COURSE: Payments may be made in full or you may make monthly payments.

Monthly Payment Contract must be signed in person along with a down payment of $500 + $85 (for books) which must be received at least 2 WEEKS prior to the beginning of course so that we have time to order all books and materials for the class.

Monthly payments will be due the 1st of every month for $290 / month for 6 months with a final payment of $260 due the 1st of the final month.

All payments must be received in full in order to receive your Certification & 150 CE Credit hours.
